Rail News: Passenger Rail

Sound Transit to expand Everett Station parking

advertisement

Last week, Sound Transit broke ground on the $13.6 million Everett Station expansion project, which calls for adding 500 parking spaces, providing pedestrian access from the new lot to the station and building a pedestrian plaza.

Everett Station serves as a multi-modal hub for Sounder commuter rail, ST Express bus and other local transit providers. The additional parking will improve access to Sounder service, which grew 28 percent during the first quarter, according to Sound Transit. In fall, the agency plans to add a fourth round-trip train between Everett and Seattle.
