Communities change, and passenger-rail providers tweak their services accordingly. To meet Manitoba's evolving mobility needs, VIA Rail Canada Inc. plans to relocate its Brandon North station shelter to Rivers, Manitoba.

Effective Sept. 8, passengers connecting with VIA's western transcontinental Canadian service will be able to board at Rivers station, a "short 15 minute drive from the station shelter in Brandon North," according to a prepared statement. The Canadian currently operates three times per week in each direction.

"VIA has been working with the communities of Brandon and Rivers for some time now to better meet their needs," said Michael Woelcke, VIA's western director, customer experience. "This relocation is thanks in large part to their desire to work with VIA to provide a facility in a location that is much more visible and secure."
