King, Dawson join MARTA as assistant GMs

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) recently appointed two new assistant general managers.

The authority named Cheryl King AGM of planning and transit system development to oversee the planning and real estate/transit-oriented development departments. With more than 30 years' planning experience, she most recently served as staff director of the Transit Planning Board, a temporary entity established by Atlanta-area transportation agencies that aimed to develop an  integrated transit system. King previously was  director of community relations for Dallas Area Rapid Transit and senior environmental planner for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Harris County, Texas.

MARTA also appointed Deborah Dawson AGM of human resources, training and labor relations. She has more than 25 years' experience in human resource management, most recently as AGM human resources/labor relations/training and chief of staff for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority. Dawson previously served as HR manager for Lifespan Health System, overseeing the Visiting Nurses' Association of Rhode Island.
