MBTA installs defibrillators onboard trains

advertisement

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is in the process of installing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) on its entire commuter-rail fleet.

The devices are designed to analyze heart rhythms and deliver a shock to people suffering from cardiac arrest. To date, MBTA has installed more than 30 AEDs onboard its trains; the entire 84-train fleet will be equipped with the devices by the end of spring.

The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad — which operates MBTA's commuter-rail trains — will provide four hours of CPR and AED training for conductors and assistant conductors.
