The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) recently released transit route and schedule data on a new "Metro Developer Beta" Web site.

Located at www.metro.net/developer, the site features route, schedule and stop information for all five Metro Rail lines. Developers and other interested individuals can use the information for new or existing Web-based transit planning computer applications, including such mobile devices as iPhones and Blackberrys.

LACMTA hopes the data will “foster a new generation of transit planning tools that will make it even easier for more people to utilize public transit in Los Angeles,” said the agency’s Chief Executive Officer Art Leahy in a prepared statement.

The site also features a frequently asked questions section, example code from LACMTA and community members, and a weblog covering the latest innovations in transit applications.
