• Skanska USA Civil received a $120 million contract from MTA New York City Transit to construct pedestrian bridges, platforms and three new entrances at the Fulton Street-Broadway-Nassau subway station. Work is scheduled to be completed in early 2013. To minimize traffic disruption, work will take place at night and on weekends.

• Yesterday, Siemens announced the appointment of Daryl Dulaney as president and chief executive officer of the newly formed Siemens Industry Inc. — the U.S. affiliate of Siemens' global Industry sector business. Effective Oct. 1, Siemens Energy & Automation Inc., Siemens Transportation Systems Inc., Siemens Building Technologies Inc. and Siemens VAI Services L.L.C. were merged, and the resulting corporation renamed “Siemens Industry Inc.” Siemens Industry will consist of six divisions: Industry Solutions, Industry Automation, Drive Technologies, Building Technologies, Mobility and OSRAM SYLVANIA.

• Rail consulting firm Interfleet Technology recently named Kevin Beauchamp head of infrastructure services and Neil Cundy technical section head within the firm’s maintenance services team. Beauchamp Beauchamp joins the London office of Interfleet from Colas Rail, where he was Colas Rail U.K.’s chief operating officer. Cundy most recently served Railcare/Eye for Solutions.

• GlobalOptions Group Inc. entered into a five-year agreement to serve as a preferred provider of investigative services to BNSF Railway Co. Under terms of the agreement, GlobalOptions will perform surveillance and background-related investigations to assist BNSF in exposing cases of potential liability claim fraud. GlobalOptions will host a customized version of GlobalTrak™ that will include RapidData™, which will provide BNSF “direct, instantaneous access to public information databases nationwide,” according to a prepared statement. BNSF claims staff also will be able to monitor cases from their desktops with real-time access via GlobalTrak.

• RailComm was ranked 1,528th on Inc. magazine’s 2009 “Inc. 5,000” list of the fastest-growing privately held U.S. companies — the third-straight year the supplier has made the list. The company was recognized based on its revenue growth of 208.2 percent from 2005 to 2008. The company also ranked 93rd in the “top software development companies” category. RailComm offers a suite of rail command control, and communications solutions; its control systems are installed on every Class I, as well as “dozens of passenger, short-line and regional railroads worldwide,” according to a prepared statement.
