Yesterday, Howard Roberts Jr. resigned as MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) president, effective Nov. 30. He has served in the top post since April 2007.

Prior to joining NYCT, Roberts served stints as a transportation consultant, and chief operating officer and deputy general manager of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.

Roberts also previously held various positions at NYCT from 1981 to 1986, including vice president of finance and administration, surface transit VP and COO.

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) plans to name Roberts’ successor “in short order,” said MTA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jay Walder in a prepared statement.
