TSA grant to help TriMet boost security

Last week, the Tri-County Metropolitan Transit District of Oregon (TriMet) received a $1.9 million grant from the Transportation Security Administration to help fund security improvements.
TriMet will use proceeds to add security cameras at nine MAX stations, secure the perimeter at facilities, fund a backup command center and provide closed-circuit TV cameras at nine MAX stations.
TriMet also announced overall reported crime on the MAX system declined 19 percent in 2009 after falling 18 percent in 2008.
