Vancouver’s TransLink maintained high ridership after the surge from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in February, TransLink officials said in a prepared statement.

February ridership rose to nearly 22.9 million, an almost 51 percent increase compared with February 2009's figure. And while March ridership was lower than February at 18 million, it was still up 19.3 percent from March 2009's level.

“It was important for the future of Metro Vancouver that we do more than move enormous numbers of people during the Olympics. It was important that local residents see what their transportation system could do,” said TransLink Chief Executive Officer Ian Jarvis.
