Seattle’s Sound Transit recently named Celia Kupersmith deputy chief executive officer, effective Sept. 1. She will succeed Ron Tober, who will depart the agency and move back to Charlotte, N.C.
Kupersmith previously was general manager and CEO of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District in San Francisco.
Sound Transit also reported average April weekday ridership of 20,000 on the Central Link light-rail line, up 11 percent from March's count. Sounder commuter-rail ridership dropped 0.5 percent and Tacoma Link light-rail ridership decreased 8.4 percent, Sound Transit CEO Joni Earl said in a recent report.
