• Alstom has received an order for 25 additional Citadis tramsets from the Paris transit authority. The vehicles will be delivered in 2012. The $98.1 million order falls within the framework of a contract signed in December 2003.

• Bombardier Transportation, in consortium with Site S.p.A, received an order in Algeria to deliver the Bombardier INTERFLO 250 European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 1 system for the new Saida-Moulay Slissen line. The $24 million contract calls for designing and supplying the system for the 74.6-mile line.

• Wabtec Corp. subsidiary MotivePower Inc. has been contracted by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority to supply 20 next-generation HSP46 passenger locomotives in 2012 and 2013. The order is valued at $114.6 million, including training, manuals and spare parts.

• Battelle won a 78-month, $6.7 million contract from MTA New York City Transit to serve as an independent safety assessor for the communication-based train control signal system modernization of the Flushing Line and Culver Test Track.

• Nomad Digital announced that East Midlands Trains recently launched its new on-board passenger Wi-Fi service. The new service now is available on all six of the seven-car Meridian units; during the coming months, the service will be rolled out across all 27 Meridian units and all 11 MKIII HSTs on the London-to-Sheffield and London-to-Nottingham routes. Nomad received a five-year contract from East Midland Trains to provide the system, including on-train technology, payment and passenger help desk services.

• Rufus Boyd has joined the United Kingdom headquarters of Interfleet Technology from the consulting firm's Sydney, Australia, office, where he was deputy chief executive officer.
