Turner Construction Co. recently was selected to provide construction management services for the Transbay Transit Center in San Francisco. Designed to be the “Grand Central Station of the West,” the facility is estimated to create more than 48,000 jobs during the first phase of construction and is scheduled to be completed in 2017.

Replacing a terminal constructed in 1939, the 1.3 million-square-foot regional transportation hub is designed to serve more than 45 million passengers annually, and connect eight counties and 11 transit systems.

The five-story transit center is estimated to cost $4.2 billion, including $400 million covered by federal stimulus funds.
