The Fort Worth Transportation Authority has adopted Tarrant Express, or TEX, as the name of the agency's new commuter-rail project.
The future corridor would extend from southwest Fort Worth through the downtown and across northeast Tarrant County to Grapevine and into Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
"As the new commuter-rail project advances into its next phase toward submittal to the Federal Transit Administration for a funding grant, we felt it was important to provide it an official name that would create higher visibility and excitement within the region, and greater recognition within Washington, D.C.," said The T President Dick Ruddell in a prepared statement.
TEX was known previously as "SW2NE."
