MBCR appoints chief transportation, mechanical officers

Yesterday, Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co. L.L.C. (MBCR) named Bernard McCall chief mechanical officer and Edwin Motte, chief transportation officer.

McCall will be responsible for all MBCR mechanical operations, maintenance and inspections, as well as provisions designed to maintain safe, reliable coaches and locomotives for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) commuter-rail system. He has more than 36 years of rail experience. Prior to joining MBCR, McCall served as Northeast regional chief mechanical officer for RailAmerica Inc.

Motte, who has more than 40 years of rail experience, will be responsible for the management of all commuter rail lines and train movements, including oversight of schedules, onboard staff and fare collection. Prior to joining MBCR, Motte served as vice president of transportation for Pan Am Railways. He also served as deputy regional administrator of Region 1 for the Federal Railroad Administration.
