The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority’s (SFRTA) Tri-Rail service transported 19,731 riders on “National Dump the Pump Day” held June 16, setting a ridership record, SFRTA officials said in a prepared statement.
Tri-Rail bested the previous daily record set in 2006 by more than 1,000 riders, they said.
“The overwhelming turnout [on Dump the Pump Day] is a strong indicator that people are willing to explore new options for getting around the region,” said Bonnie Arnold, SFRTA’s director of marketing and customer service.
