Metro Transit to host open houses on Central Corridor transit service study

With the Central Corridor light-rail project under way in the Twin Cities, Metro Transit officials are hosting public meetings in March to solicit comments on possible bus route changes that could occur when the light-rail service opens in 2014.

The meetings will provide riders an opportunity to learn more about the transit service area study, Metro Transit officials said in a prepared statement.

The $957 million Central Corridor light-rail project entails 11 miles of exclusive right of way between downtown St. Paul and downtown Minneapolis. It will connect with the existing Hiawatha line at the Metrodome station and terminate at the Minneapolis multi-modal station that also will serve the new Northstar commuter-rail line.
