More than 8.2 million trips were taken on Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) trains and buses in February, marking the 11th consecutive month of ridership gains.

Ridership rose 7.9 percent year over year, due in part to the extra day in the month.

On the MAX light-rail system, weekly trips rose 2.8 percent to 784,900; weekday trips, 2.4 percent to 126,800; weekend trips, 4.8 percent to 150,900; and rush-hour trips, 4 percent to 38,700. Weekday ridership on the MAX Green Line rose 8.7 percent to 23,700 and weekend ridership jumped 10.5 percent to 26,400.

On the WES commuter-rail corridor, weekday and weekend trips both shot up 14.7 percent to 1,640 and 8,200, respectively.
