The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), in partnership with IMG Worldwide, has issued a request for proposals seeking naming rights and sponsorships for 11 “L” stations.

The partnership will help generate new revenue for the agency, said CTA President Forrest Claypool in a prepared statement.

“This unique advertising opportunity is the first full-scale naming rights program at multiple stations offered by a transit system in the United States,” he said.

The stations included in the RFP are O’Hare, Fullteron, Blemont, Addison, Chicago, Grand/State, 95th, North/Clybourn, Midway, Ashland 63rd and 79th.

In addition to obtaining the naming rights, the chosen sponsor would have their name and logo on CTA system maps, and gain exclusive advertising within the station and other collateral materials, such as the CTA’s downtown tourist guides.

Meanwhile, Claypool also signed an executive order to create a veterans hiring preference to reflect the agency’s commitment to providing employment opportunities to men and women who have served in the armed forces.

CTA’s goal is to attract at least a 20 percent pool of veterans during the application process for positions including drivers, mechanics, engineers and managers.

Claypool noted that military experience could translate well to a number of CTA positions.

“Many veterans, by virtue of their military service, are well-equipped to serve this agency and its customers,” he said.
