Miami-Dade Transit’s Metrorail extension is nearing completion in time for its scheduled July 28 opening.
Construction and testing of the 2.4-mile AirportLink is scheduled for completion this summer, setting the stage for the launching of the Orange Line Metrorail service to the new Miami International Airport Metrorail Station, Miami-Dade Transit officials said in a prepared statement.
The Orange Line will run between Dadeland South Metrorail Station and the MIA Metrorail Station.
The extension is the first new rail line to open since Metrorail was established in 1984, and the new station is Metrorail’s 23rd, according to a July 11 report on the Miami Herald website.
