The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon’s (TriMet) ridership in fiscal-year 2012 topped more than 102 million trips — a record for the 43-year-old agency.

Total ridership on TriMet’s WES, MAX and bus services was up 2.2 percent compared with fiscal-year 2011's total, TriMet officials said in a prepared statement. Annual ridership on the WES commuter-rail service climbed 12.8 percent to 418,100 trips and rose 2.0 percent to 59.6 million trips on the MAX light-rail system.

For the month of June, ridership totaled 8.5 million trips, down 2.3 percent from June 2011’s mark.
