Yesterday, VIA Rail Canada Inc. announced it’s soliciting expressions of interest (EOI) from potential investors to partner with the agency to develop four acres surrounding its Halifax, Nova Scotia, station.
Prequalified candidates from the EOI process will be asked to provide a formal proposal, VIA officials said in a prepared statement.
“We are seeking a partner that can work with us to leverage this important asset, which is currently under-utilized," said VIA President and Chief Executive Officer Marc Laliberté. “We are looking for a market-driven solution that will maximize service to our customers, pave the way for a future increase in our ridership and have a positive impact on the ongoing development of the greater Halifax region.”
