Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) announced a 50-cent daily parking fee increase at many stations throughout January, with the first to be implemented Jan. 13.
The agency evaluates parking lot usage every month. If the lot at a station is full, then the daily parking fee may increase by 50 cents. If the lot is less than 95 percent full, then the daily fee will by decrease by 50 cents, BART officials said in a press release.
Revenue collected from the new fees will go toward programs that improve station access, including shuttle and feeder service to stations and "much needed" station rehabilitation and modernization, they said.
