The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has unveiled its transit plan to serve Levi's Stadium that soon will be the new home for the San Francisco 49ers.The plan, presented last week to the Levi's Stadium Transit Program Committee, calls for five new bus routes on game day, 78 extra buses and 80 rail cars in service to transport an expected ridership of at least 10,000 riders. The plan includes information on where extra trains and buses will be stationed for pre- and post-event service, how often the trains and buses will be deployed and their routes."It's not just VTA buses and trains that require coordination," VTA officials said in a press release. "With 12,500 to 16,600 fans expected to take all forms of public transit to the games, VTA is working closely with our transit partners Caltrain, Altamont Commuter Express, Capitol Corridor, BART and Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transportation."VTA staff will evaluate how well the plan is working for each event and adapt transit levels if necessary. The stadium is scheduled to be open for the 49ers 2014 season.
