The Utah Transit Authority's board (UTA) last week advanced its second transit-oriented development effort by voting to transfer land surrounding the Jordan Valley TRAX light-rail station to a joint venture established with the developer.Valued at $40 million, the first phase of the Jordan Valley Station transit-oriented development — called Bangerter Station — will be a multi-use development featuring 267 housing units, retail shops and structured parking within walking distance of the Jordan Valley TRAX station, according to a post on the UTA's website. When all phases are completed, Bangerter Station would feature 1,400 residential units, 83,000 square feet of office space, and nearly 35,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space.Located next to the TRAX Red Line, the development would offer passengers easy access to major destinations in the valley, including the University of Utah, downtown Salt Lake City and the Jordan Landing shopping center.According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the UTA board voted to transfer its ownership of the 30.2-acre property around the Jordan Valley Station to a joint partnership with Boulder Ventures, headed by developer Jeff Vitek. The board's action comes just weeks after U.S Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the UTA's East Village TOD in Sandy, Utah.
