GO Transit expands car-sharing options

Metrolinx's GO Transit has added Zipcar car-sharing service to seven more of its stations in the Toronto area, the agency announced late last week. The announcement follows Metrolinx's earlier decision to include Zipcar's vehicles at six GO stations in 2014.

The new locations will provide more integrated transit operations for residents, businesses and visitors, Metrolinx officials said in a press release. GO Transit President Greg Percy believes the car-sharing service offers a cost-effective option for riders who need to travel beyond GO stations.

The company has more than 500 vehicles at more than 200 locations throughout Toronto, Metrolinx officials said in a press release. Zipcar reservations include gas, insurance and roughly 125 miles of driving per day.
