The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) late last week awarded a contract to Nan Inc. to construct three light-rail stations in the West Oahu Station group.

Nan submitted the lowest bid at $56 million to build the Hoopili, East Kapolei and University of Hawaii-West Oahu stations. The bids for the West Oahu Station group were opened in June.

Three other companies submitted bids: Watts Constructors at $66.5 million; Hensel Phelps at $67.2 million; and Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. at $73.4 million.

Last month, HART awarded the contract for the construction of the three stations in the Farrington Highway Station Group. A request for bids for the Kamehameha Highway Station group — which includes the Pearl Highlands, Pearlridge and Aloha Stadium stations — is slated to be issued in August.
