VIA Rail Canada Inc. reported its highest passenger revenue in four years during the holiday season from Dec. 16, 2015, to Jan. 5, 2016, the railroad announced yesterday. During that period, the Canadian intercity passenger railroad reported a 10.3 percent increase in revenue since 2012, VIA Rail officials said in a press release. Additionally, VIA Rail trains carried more than 16,000 passengers on Dec. 23, the railroad's busiest day. In total, more than 255,000 passengers used VIA Rail's services during the time period. The Montreal-Toronto line was the most popular route with 32,500 travelers over the holiday season, VIA Rail officials said.
