The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's (MBTA) fiscal and management control board on Wednesday approved a $16.2 million contract with J.F. White Contracting Co. to complete work on a rail bridge between Beverly and Salem, Mass.Under the contract, J.F. White will replace the bridge's swing span, which was built in 1885, The Salem News reported.The company was the lowest bidder on the project, the newspaper reported.The MBTA will close the bridge for 21 days in April 2017 while the swing span is replaced. Two additional closures will occur in May 2016 and September 2016.
