L.A. Metro unveils draft environmental impact report for airport station

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) late last week released a draft environmental impact report (DEIR) for the Airport Metro Connector 96th Street rail station.

The agency also scheduled a July 13 public hearing on the project.

Metro's plans call for building a station that will connect the Los Angeles International Airport to the regional rail system. When completed, the proposed station also will provide a link to a future automated people mover system that will connect to the airport's central terminal.

The agency's Green and Crenshaw/LAX lines will serve the station. In addition, the station will feature a bus plaza for Metro and municipal buses, passenger pickup and drop-off locations, and amenities for pedestrians and bicyclists, Metro officials said in a press release.
