The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has selected three firms to compete for a design-build contract for the Green Line light-rail extension.The step marks an important step for the project, which will build an extension of MBTA's Green Line route into Somerville and Medford, Mass., agency officials said in a press release.The three teams are:• GLX Constructors (Fluor Enterprises Inc., The Middlesex Corp., Herzog Contracting Corp., and Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc.);• Green Line Partners (The Lane Construction Corp., Salini Impregilo S.p.A., Judlau Contracting Inc., and the LMH-C.M.C di Ravenna joint venture); and• Walsh Barletta Granite JV (Walsh Construction Co. II LLC, Barletta Heavy Division Inc., and Granite Construction Inc.)."These firms have the well-earned reputation for delivering complex projects in the United States and abroad and we are pleased that they are demonstrating an interest in working with us to successfully deliver this project," said John Dalton, program manager for the extension.
