Brightline, the privately funded passenger-rail venture in southeast Florida, yesterday offered a glimpse of its new station in downtown West Palm Beach.
The station, which is nearing completion, will serve as the northern terminus of the route, which will begin in Miami. The second phase of service will extend the line to Orlando, Fla.
Workers are putting finishing touches on the station's interior and installing turnstiles, security infrastructure, and food and beverage area in the upper concourse.

Exterior signage has been installed and station furniture will be delivered in a few weeks, Brightline officials said in a press release.
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP and architectural firm Zyscovich planned and designed the 60,000-square-foot station. The facility includes a parking garage, retail space and residential building.
The station also features connections to the Palm Tran bus system, Tri-Rail commuter-rail service and West Palm Beach's downtown trolley.
"Soon, we will be able to welcome more tourism and business opportunities with the introduction of this reliable and convenient service," said Palm Beach County Mayor Paulette Burdick. "Brightline is a welcome addition to Palm Beach County."
In late July, Brightline will open express service between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Service to Miami will added in late August. Owned by All Aboard Florida, Brightline is planning a grand-opening ceremony and launch of the full service for September.
