Metrolink on May 14 will open its new Burbank Airport-North Station.

The new station will provide daily service to the Hollywood Burbank Airport on the Antelope Valley Line.

When the stop opens, the existing Burbank/Bob Hope Airport Station on the Ventura County Line will be renamed the Burbank Airport-South Station, according to a Metrolink press release.

The railroad began construction on the new $15 million station in March 2017. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) contributed $12.3 million toward the project, while the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority covered the balance.

The Burbank Airport-North Station will be located about 1 mile from the current airport terminal, Metro officials wrote in a spring 2017 blog post. Airline passengers will be able to reach the new Metrolink station with a free shuttle operated by the airport authority.

The new station will be within walking distance of a planned new terminal.
