The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has released a request for proposals (RFP) for a transit study in Lynn, Massachusetts.

The agency is seeking a bidder to identify short-, medium- and long-term strategies to improve transit service in the Lynn area. The study is expected to begin early next year and will include opportunities to create and improve bike and pedestrian access to transit, according to a press release issued by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA)

The MBTA's Newburyport/Rockport commuter-rail line includes a stop in Lynn, which provides service to North Station in Boston. Many Lynn residents also live within walking distance of the commuter-rail station in Swampscott, Massachusetts.

"This RFP will serve as the platform through which we can have a thoughtful, constructive conversation with key stakeholders about ways to improve mobility," said MBTA General Manager Luis Manuel Ramirez.
