The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) on Tuesday eliminated parking fees at three park-and-ride lots.

Riders now pay no parking charges at the Watt/I-80, Watt/I-80 West and Roseville Road lots.

"Free parking at the park-and-ride lots is just another way [we] want to improve the customer experience and make it more convenient to take transit," said SacRT General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Henry Li in a press release.

Pending board approval on Jan. 14, the agency also expects to eliminate parking fees at the remaining park-and-ride lots at Power Inn, Franklin, Meadowview and Florin starting March 1.

Riders who use the Cosumnes River College parking structure will continue to pay the rate of $2 per day or $20 per month since parking is maintained by the college, SacRT officials said.
