Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and local officials last week broke ground on the 26-mile Silver Line that will provide regional-rail service between Plano, Texas, and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport starting in December 2022.
The $1.1 billion project involves construction of passenger-rail connections and service that will serve and link to major employment, population and activity centers in DART’s northern service area, agency officials said in a press release.
The Silver Line will include 10 stations and travel through the cities of Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson and Plano. The line will connect to three existing rail lines: the Red and Orange lines in Richardson and Plano, the Green Line in Carrollton and the Orange Line at DFW International Airport.
In addition, the line will connect riders at DFW International Airport to Fort Worth via Trinity Metro’s TEXRail regional rail line.
