The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) late last week announced it issued a request for proposals (RFP) from vendors interested in implementing the New York agency's reorganization plan. The RFP's release follows MTA's development of its "transformation plan" in partnership with AlixPartners, which will position the agency to improve service, end project delays and cost overruns and deliver modern, reliable and efficient transportation services, MTA officials said in a press release. The RFP seeks vendors with expertise in four major categories: reorganization and consolidation of administrative and back office support functions; police and safety; construction and development; and external communications.“This solicitation will bring world-class expertise to support the MTA as we continue to increase efficiency, sharpen our focus and improve performance across the board," said MTA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Foye. "This is a crucial next step in making this transformation a reality, and I look forward to continuing our work to drive change and reform.”The RFP is due Jan. 3, 2020. Copies of the RFP are available by request.
