Dallas-Fort Worth transit agencies together will launch a regionwide survey next month to gauge ridership demand and patterns on the region's rail system.
The survey is funded by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) and Trinity Metro.
The survey's first phase will measure ridership demand, while the second phase will collect trip, fare and demographic information from riders, DART officials said in a press release.
Agency officials on Feb. 3 will ask McKinney Avenue Transit Authority’s (MATA) M-Line Trolley, DART and Trinity Railway Express (TRE) commuter-rail riders their final station destinations in order to better understand how the rail system is being used.
On Feb. 24, officials will interview DART, TRE, Dallas Streetcar and MATA riders to gather rider trip information.
DCTA and Trinity Metro riders will be surveyed in the fall.
Information gathered from the surveys will help transit agencies better address demand and plan for the region's future transit needs, NCTOCOG officials said.
