Sound Transit this month is soliciting public opinions on an updated plan for incorporating bus connections to light rail when the 4-mile Northgate Link light-rail extension opens in 2021 in Seattle.

The updated proposal includes increased trip frequency, longer operating hours on select bus routes, and more transfer options to light rail at Northgate Station, Sound Transit officials said in a press release.

Sound Transit and Community Transit — the transit agency which operates bus service in the area — refined the plan after receiving feedback last year from rail and bus riders.

The feedback indicated that bus riders were willing to transfer to light rail to improve the speed and reliability of their commutes, but wanted more frequent bus service to minimize transfer times at Northgate Station.

Public comments on the proposal will be accepted online until May 6. The final proposal will be presented to the Sound Transit and Community Transit boards for approval this summer.
