Caltrain released a draft framework of policies to provide guidance as the agency works to ensure the California passenger-rail service's availability during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The framework outlines policy recommendations for the system that will make it more accessible and connected, as well as expand service to low-income individuals and communities of color that historically have been under- represented in the system’s ridership, Caltrain officials said in a press release.
These policies include improving midday service, operating a schedule that facilitates connections with other transit modes, delaying fare increases and working with the region to facilitate transfers.
The draft framework also outlines how Caltrain can recover from the pandemic in a manner that improves the system incrementally over time. On July 21, Caltrain will hold a public meeting on its recovery plan.
