The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) earlier this week partnered with social network Nextdoor to share agency construction updates, major service issues and other announcements to residents near MARTA service lines and stations.
Nextdoor is social network for neighborhoods where users verify their residence and communicate privately and exclusively with other residents in their neighborhood. The site has users in nearly 2,5000 neighborhoods in Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton counties and Atlanta.
MARTA created targeted areas within the Nextdoor site that follows service lines, which will enable the agency to provide relevant alerts to residents affected by a particular project. In turn, those residents can communicate with MARTA by replying to posts and through private messages, MARTA officials said in a press release.
“This partnership comes at an important time as MARTA advances capital projects and system improvements in all of the jurisdictions we serve,” said MARTA General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Parker. “To have this platform to communicate on a hyper-local level will be crucial in notifying impacted customers immediately so they can plan ahead.”
