Sound Transit’s board last week approved its 2021 rail service changes, which maintain reduced levels of service implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new service plan also reflects the planned opening of the 4.3-mile Northgate Link light-rail extension in September 2021. When service begins operating between Northgate and downtown Seattle, the light rail will operate every eight minutes during rush hour, every 10 minutes mid-day and weekends, and every 15 minutes late night.
No changes were made to current levels of Sounder commuter-rail or Tacoma Link service.
The service plan incorporates input from 1,900 people who responded to a survey about proposed changes, and is subject to changes based on future passenger demand and the financial impacts of COVID-19, Sound Transit officials said in a press release.
