Metrolink has resumed passenger-rail service to its Oceanside, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano stations along the Orange County and Inland Empire-Orange County lines in California.
The railroad had suspended service south of the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Station on Sept. 16 after a landslide caused the tracks south of the San Clemente Pier to misalign.
The agency immediately began efforts to stabilize the toe of the slope by placing rip-rap, or boulders, adjacent to the track.
About 12,000 tons of boulders now are in place and the tracks are realigned. As a precautionary measure, Metrolink will maintain train speed restrictions in the project area.
