Starting today, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will increase service on the Green and Yellow lines to every 15 minutes.

The service increase follows a temporary one-week frequency reduction to allow WMATA train operators to become recertified, WMATA officials said in a press release.

Last week, the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission announced the discovery that nearly half of the transit agency's 500 rail operators had lapsed in recertification since May 2021.

Stations served by both lines will see trains every seven or eight minutes. Red Line frequency is every 10 minutes, while Blue, Orange and Silver lines frequency is every 20 minutes.
