The Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City is hosting a second virtual public town hall to discuss plans for the proposed Interborough Express, which would link Brooklyn and Queens using a 14-mile right of way along existing freight-rail tracks.
The project would be built along an underused rail line that connects the two boroughs through the MTA-owned Bay Ridge Connector freight line and the CSX-owned Fremont Secondary freight line, MTA officials said in a press release.
The virtual public town hall will be held at 6 p.m. EDT Sept. 22 via Zoom and YouTube.
The transit agency hosted the first town hall on May 19. MTA gathered public feedback to be used during the planning process. The town hall will provide an update on those plans as MTA moves closer to selecting a locally preferred alternative this fall, MTA officials said.
