The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority this week issued a request for proposals for the Arts Center rail station in Midtown Atlanta, which is slated to become a transit-oriented development.
The TOD will cover 6 acres, and offer air rights above the station and a nearby bus loop. The site is zoned for significant mixed-use density, including affordable housing, MARTA officials said in a press release.
The RFP deadline is Dec. 15.
"Arts Center Station presents a tremendous development opportunity which we hope will enhance our customer experience and ridership, positively influence the neighborhood and add amenities, including affordable housing, which is so desperately needed in Midtown," said MARTA Interim General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood.
The Woodruff Arts Center, for which the station is named, is home to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and other performance groups.
