Brightline yesterday announced it has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a new passenger-rail station planned for the Treasure Coast in southeast Florida.

Due Dec. 22, proposals may come from private or public land owners that control property along the Brightline/Florida East Coast Railway corridor in St. Lucie or Martin counties and meet the qualifications.

Brightline will host one-on-one meetings for eligible proposal applicants in each respective county. After receiving submissions, Brightline will begin evaluations with a goal of entering negotiations with the property owners in first-quarter 2024.

Brightline now operates stations in the Florida communities of Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach. The passenger-rail company opened its newest station in Orlando on Sept. 22.
