The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) in California has allocated up to $42.4 million to support community-based transit programs.

The funding, provided through voter-approved Measure M half-cent transportation sales tax, will help cities and the county provide flexible transit options to residents. Community shuttles and seasonal trolleys are included in programs that received funding, to meet the needs of communities without larger transit options, OCTA officials said in a press release..

“These services work alongside regional bus and rail services to help fill gaps in some areas – part of OCTA’s ongoing efforts to maximize available resources,” they said.
