Metrolinx last week released the request for qualifications (RFQ) for the civil and utilities contract for the Hamilton light-rail transit project in Ontario.
This is the first step in selecting the team to deliver the first package of work.
Following the RFQ, a shortlist of teams will be invited to submit proposals in response to a request for proposals (RFP). The proposals will outline how the contractors would deliver the first package of work.
Once all proposals have been thoroughly evaluated, an alliance partner will be selected to proceed into the alliance development phase where detailed designs, schedule and costs will be prepared, Metrolinx officials said in a press release.
The Hamilton light-rail transit project will bring roughly 8.7 miles of light rail through Hamilton’s downtown core, connecting Eastgate to McMaster. There will be 17 stops along the route, and an underpass will be constructed under existing Canadian Pacific Kansas City track, separating the two lines to ensure continuous travel, Metrolinx officials said.
