The Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) rail service will cut fares by 50% next year for passengers with disabilities.
Eligible riders can begin applying for the lower fares in spring 2025; the program is slated to begin in summer 2025, PATH officials said in a press release. The reduction will match the discount program already in place for senior riders.
The program is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's (PANYNJ) PATH improvement plan. Riders with a discount will be able to pay with a special TAPP fare card issued by PATH or a contactless mobile wallet card linked to a TAPP transit account.
“We are eager to introduce this reduced fare program next summer, while working closely with the disability community to ensure a straightforward and user-friendly certification process," said PANYNJ Executive Director Rick Cotton.
