Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has reached 85% completion of the 26-mile Silver Line regional rail project and will be ready to launch revenue service in late 2025 or early 2026. When completed, the route will operate from east Plano to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s Terminal B. The line will cross seven cities and add 10 new stations to the existing DART rail network, DART officials said in a press release. The Silver Line is being constructed in three segments, allowing DART to begin testing vehicles on a segment completed in October 2024. Testing on segment A, between DFW Airport and Carrollton, is set to begin by the end of January, and the entire track will be ready for testing by summer.
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) reported 2024 year-over-year ridership growth across its entire system, including the FrontRunner commuter-rail, TRAX light-rail and S-Line Streetcar networks. FrontRunner carried 4,128,459 passengers in 2024, a 10.5% increase from 2023. The TRAX moved 13,509,954 passengers, a 26.5% increase, and the S-Line Streetcar’s ridership was 454,887, a 24.1% increase, UTA officials said in a press release. UTA has several improvements to service and frequency planned for 2025, including opening a new TRAX station in South Jordan and Daybreak Field in time for the Salt Lake Bees opening day, agency officials said.
